German Gems

WEBMU 2011

concluded today.  Two and a half days of eating, drinking, talking and sightseeing among the English-speaking bloggers in Germany took place in Köln this past weekend. 

The large group meant lots to talk about and lots of fun, but not enough time to see and do everything or even get to meet everyone.  We're already looking forward to meetups with new friends before next year's event.

This pretzel, found hanging in a bakery window in Landshut, has to be the biggest pretzel I have ever seen.   Actually there were multiples; one in each window.

Oktoberfest 2011

is now in full swing.  If the store windows in Landshut are any indication, the dirndls will be brightly colored and/or checked.  Unfortunately we won't get to check it out personally, but fellow bloggers at Schnitzelbahn have lots of photos of the fun.

 
 

Whew

It took longer than I expected, but my computer is finally up and operating.  Thanks for your patience and your notes of concern.  We now return to regular programming.

Ein Problem

I'm still here, but the computer is not.  The German Police virus found it's way onto my machine. It is being de-bugged and won't be back for a few more days.        Thankfully all the important stuff is backed up regularly.  Let's just hope the photos for the draft posts don't get lost.  Hope to be back soon.

One year ago

I started this blog with a hearty "Helau." I wasn't sure how dedicated I would be to it, or if I'd find enough things to blog about.  I wasn't even sure anyone would read it.

I now find I enjoy sharing a bit about Germany and I usually find more things to share than I have time to write about.  I try to focus on the positive aspects about living here and I look for things a tourist or traveller may not find although since I love to travel, you'll find a bit of travel and tourism.  Sometimes I add a bit of history or lore.  I hope you find it interesting and informative.  Thanks for stopping by.
